For one last time the Skyvan photoship flew
to Danish airspace to catch the former prime bird of the Danish Air Force,
the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The days of the jet are certainly numbered,
as they will go out of service fairly soon. The biggest wish of the photographers
was to see the special painted demo jet ‘Half Century’.
We had planned to fly two days, but unfortunately the opening of our
European season was a full day cancellation, still a rarity in all our
projects. But there is little you can do when you look up and see low
clouds and rain. |

| The second day had beautiful weather and high
hopes to get the action. Demo pilot ‘TEO’ did not disappoint
and took the super colored red & silver jet up… twice, so all
the photographers could enjoy this F-16 for a final time. The first join
up was a long solo photomission with all the photo angles you could wish
for! One the second join-up we got to see something unique, a 2-ship formation
with the RV-8 of Tom Schau, former airshowboss of so many of the big military
airshows Denmark used to host. He is active now for the Roskilde airshow,
turning it into the prime airshow of the country! His wish came true as
he flew a formation with the F-16 of ‘TEO’… and all photographers
happy. |

| We also got two join ups of the new F-35, the
first being a soloship coming to the Skyvan for a good 10 minutes. The second
join-up later in the afternoon was a 2-ship with some of the real nice poses.
What was quite surprising to see is that the jet that came back from the
USA ( Danish pilots are trained at Luke AFB, Arizona ) looked beaten up
by all that desert flying! Interesting view and photos for all the photographers
onboard. |

Highlight of this day was another 2-ship F-16s, complete with
fuel tanks and armament!! Much to the delight of every one of them was a
twoseater, as we all realized that would be thé final time for us
to see that jet in the air. |

| For the photographers joining us on the ferry
flight to Sweden, there was a pretty sweet surprise: we were greeted along
the way with the 3 trainers the Danish Air Force once used: the historic
KZ II – fantastic looking vintage trainer – the classic Chipmunk
and the T-17 that is still in service today. The photos and videos of this
day are definitely a nice farewell to the Danish Vipers that brought us
so much action and joy in the previous years!! |
