Welcome to the website of the Aviation PhotoCrew, specialized in high quality aviation photography and Air-to-Air photowork in particular. We hope to please you with our images while you fly through our website and hopefully we'll meet one day high in the skies.

On the homepage you can find news about our projects and the latest reports published on our website. On the left side you can find the photo reports we made during the years. We hope you enjoy our work and bring our website a visit as it will be updated regularly with stunning photo reports.

The Aviation PhotoCrew is a small team of enthusiastic photographers with the same passion for aviation. In the last year we have had the opportunities to do a lot of Air-to-Air photowork all around Europe, which can be found in the galleries on our website. One of our goals is to share experiences, which has lead to the organization of the Air-to-Air Academy and the Photoflying Days. In August 2011 we also published our second book Aviation Photography! which is filled with breathtaking photographs and interesting tips and tricks for the passionated aviation photographer.

> 19-02-2013: European Airshow Convention 2013
The 2013 edition of the European Airshow Convention took place at a new location in the center of Antwerp, Belgium. The Radison Blu Astrid Hotel was chosen for its great facilities, good price and easy accessibility with public transport, being just on the other side of the Antwerp train station. Around 200 people attended this year’s edition coming from all over the world to share experience and meet new friends in the Airshow scene. The main theme for this edition of the convention was risk assessment, which becomes more and more important in today’s world.
> 10-02-2013: Florennes Airshow 2012 Report
Florennes Air Base was the host for the 2012 edition of the Belgian Air Force Airshow which was organized the last weekend of June. As this was the only airshow organized by the Belgian Defense, a great variety of aircraft attended the show. Some of the real highlights came from the former East-block in the form of 2 Polish Su-22’s and Slowak Mig-29, both in the flying display. Next to these interesting fighter birds, a full program of more than 8 hours of air-action was presented to the visiting public. During the days before the show, we were able to perform some photoshoots while the aircraft were transiting to Florennes.
> 29-01-2013: HAF F-16 Demo Team "ZEUS" Report
The International Florennes Airshow 2012 was one of the rare occasions to see the HAF F-16 team outside Greece, being one of the top starts of the show. Display Pilots Captain Emmanuel Karahalios and Captain Georgios Androulakis made the long flight to Belgium representing the Hellenic Air Force to the large crowd visiting the Airshow. It was a great honor to be able to perform an Air-to-Air photoshoot with the display crew while on their way to the Florennes show. Check-out the report of this exclusive photoshoot, which also contains a video filmed from inside the cockpit of the F-16.
> 15-01-2013: Polish Airpower Report
The Polish Air Force has made a large transformation past decades following the Cold War. In the beginning of the 90s, the Polish Air Force existed of Russian-built hardware existing primarily of Mig-21s, Mig-23s, Mig-29s, Su-20s and Su-22s. Gradually the number of Jets decreased and nowadays only the Mig-29 and the Su-22 Fighters are kept flying through the Polish Skies. In 2002, Poland chose Lockheed Martin F-16C/D Block 52 as its new multirole fighter, safeguarding the future of the Air Force. During the past years, we have had the honor to work together with the Polish Air Force during photoshoots with the mighty Su-22 and Mig-29.
> 29-12-2012: German Air Force Phantom Report
The F-4 Phantom is one of those iconic aircraft we can still see flying through the European skies, being operated by the Hellenic, Turkish and German Air Force. Unfortunately the end of the Luftwaffe Phantom is coming closer, so we take every opportunity to capture these extraordinary birds in the sky while we still can. During the recent years we were very lucky to perform multiple photoshoots with the last flying Rhinos of JG-71 “Richthofen”.
> 12-12-2012: Breitling Super Constellation Report
The Breitling Super Constellation is one of the most elegant classic aircraft flying around. The Super Constellation Flyers Association is the operator of the only example of this magnificent passenger aircraft in flying conditions in Europe. As a guest of honor, chief pilot Ernst Frei invited the Aviation PhotoCrew to come over and have a look at the magnificent aircraft at its temporary homebase of Lahr airport in Germany.
> 27-10-2012: Photoflying Days 2012 Report update
The 2012 edition of the Photoflying Days saw no less than 65 photographers from all over the world visiting this unique event. After the event, we received a lot of awesome pictures from many different angles. It was a difficult choice between the thousands of photographs taken during the, but we added a selection of the best photographs to the already huge report. Thanks everyone for sharing your pictures, we hope you enjoy the gallery!
> 06-10-2012: Sanicole Airshow 2012 Report
Since a couple of years, mid September is reserved for the Sanicole airshow, this year being the 36th edition. The participants list was gradually filling up during the months before the show with again a great mix of aircraft and helicopters coming from all over the world to perform their display in front of the visiting public. This year the main highlights were the attendance by the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight and the USAF B-52 bomber.
> 26-09-2012: Fashion & Aviation combined - Peter Kleynen Report
Thanks to photographer Peter Kleynen this combination became reality on the 'Photoflying Days' at Zoersel. The main idea was to combine all the unique planes that come to Zoersel, with today's fashion. Peter contacted Petra Vanhoren, a stylist who was totally into this cool idea of 'vintage' styling. After preparing the necessary mood boards, they casted their models. Out of 385 models they picked out 2; Laura Antonacci and Katleen Dekort. > 10-09-2012: Photoflying Days 2012 Report
The 2012 edition of the Photoflying Days was earmarked to be an even bigger success after the two previous events. This year also marked the 10th anniversary of the APCK fly-in which had to be celebrated in style. The highlight of this year’s event was to be the visit of the Breitling Super Constellation which would be the first visit to Belgium of this aircraft type in 37 years. Unfortunately after all the great effort the Breitling Super Constellation Flyers Association did to get their special aircraft to Malle airfield, they unfortunately had to cancel only one week before the event due to engine problems. Luckily the organization was able to send their DC-3 Dakota as a credible replacement for the Connie.
> 08-09-2012: Sanicole Airshow 2011 Report
The 2012 Sanicole airshow is coming-up and it promises to be again one of the highlights of the European Airshow scene. Stars of the show will be the Saab Viggen and the B-52 Bomber next to a broad range of other airshow acts. Check out the report of last year’s edition, which celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Sanicole Airshow.
> 23-08-2012: Italian Eurofighter Report
In September 2011 the Italian Air Force Eurofighter solo display came for the first time to the Netherlands Air Force Opendays at Leeuwarden Airbase. Demo Pilot Major Raffaele Beltrame, flies the Eurofighter Typhoon since 2004 and is test pilot with the 311 Gruppo Reparto Sperimentale Volo based at Pratica di Mare Airbase. On the way to the show we had the honor to perform a photoshoot of the Eurofighter high above the Wadden Islands. As can be seen from the photographs, the aircraft suites very well for aircraft interceptions, even for slow movers as the Skyvan photoship is. The pilot showed off the aircraft very nicely from all sides marking the graceful lines of the Jet.
> 12-08-2012: Koksijde Airshow 2011 Photoshoot Report
In 2011 the Belgian Air Force celebrated its 65th anniversary with one of the biggest airshows ever organised in Belgium, at the coastal base of Koksijde. On the days before and after the airshow we were able to perform some unique photoshoots of some of the aircraft who were flying to or from the airshow. The weather in the beginning of July was fantastic which resulted in a nice variety of photographs of which a lot of pictures were used in our new book Aviation Photography!
> 29-07-2012: Royal Netherlands Air Force Opendays 2011 Photo Report
In 2011, the yearly Netherlands Air Force Opendays were held at the Leeuwarden airbase in the Northern part of the country. As the airshow organizers always do a great job in attracting a great mix of interesting aircraft participants, we were keen to go there for some photoshoots. The region around the nearby Wadden Islands is just wonderful as backdrop for our photographs, and so we chose Texel airport as our operating base. Check out the reports which contains some really nice shots of the local Air Force fleet, and a unique F-16 formation.
> 28-06-2012: Polish Air Force Mig-29 Photo Report
The Mig 29 Fulcrum is by many aviation fans one of the most beautiful fighters flying around. It was off course high on our wish list to photograph this fantastic aircraft air-to-air. The Polish Air Force is the biggest operator of the aircraft in Europe and luckily they can sometimes be seen at foreign airshows around Europe. One of the airshows they visited was the 2011 Leeuwarden Open Door in The Netherlands, which was for us a great opportunity to photograph the mighty Mig 29 behind the Skyvan photoship. Check out the report with the results of this extraordinary flight.
> 03-06-2012: Turkish Air Force Centennial Photo Report
In 2011 the Turkish Air Force celebrated their 100th anniversary with a great variety of events throughout the year. The highlight of the celebrations was the International "Airshow Turkiye 2011" which took place at the Izmir-Cigli Airbase. As the icing on the cake, Eric wanted to organize a unique formation with all the attending demo teams flying together in which after a lot of preparation work he succeeded in. Check out the report with the results of this unique formation flight.
> 12-05-2012: SOLOTÜRK F-16 and C-160 Photo Report
In 2011 the Turkish Air Force celebrated their 100th anniversary with a range of activities throughout the year with the highlight being the Izmir Airshow which took place in June. The Turkish national demonstration team “Turkish Stars” are well known for their great performances throughout Europe and in the beginning of 2011 a new F-16 solo display team was presented with the name SOLOTÜRK. In September 2011 the team visited the Sanicole airshow in Belgium and the Leeuwarden openhouse in the Netherlands. We were very honored to be able to perform some unique photoshoots of the team, both F-16's and the C-160 support aircraft..

> 30-04-2012: OV-10 Bronco Demo Team Photo Report
The OV-10B Bronco is one of the most unique warbirds flying around in the European aviation scene. With its distinctive looks and sound, it’s a very welcome guest at airshows and events. Aviation passionate, Tony De Bruyn, has in the past year build up a nice collection of ex-German Broncos and since 2007 he flies the beautifully restored “99+32” OV-10B. As Tony is a big aviation photography fan and also flies the trusted Skyvan photoship, he has been posing his immaculate Bronco multiple times in front of our lenses. Check out this report which includes many unique photographs of the Bronco.
> 26-03-2012: Finnish Air Force F-18C Hornets Photo Report
For the occasion of the 2011 Dutch Open Days airshow, the Finnish Air Force send a rarely seen Hornet Solo display. Two aircraft were flown over to the North of The Netherlands, and we were able to photograph them on their way to the show. The two Hornets joined the Skyvan Photoship along high above the Wadden Islands, in front of the Dutch coast, formed the best background we could dream of. This was one of the most beautifull and varied photoflights, check it out!
> 11-03-2012: Vulcan in the Sky! Photo Report
After her flying display at the 2011 Abingdon Air and Country Show, we had the honor to have the Vulcan flying behind the Skyvan on her way back to the airfield she operated from. The weather was excellent and the Vulcan pilots really did their best to show all sides of the aircraft to the photographers. What a unique sight to see the Vulcan up close, flying over the lovely English countryside. This was one of the most remarkable photoflights we did and the results are just stunning, check it out!
> 26-02-2012: European Airshow Convention 2012
The European Airshow Council was established more then 10 years ago to promote excellence and safety at airshows. Every year they organise the European Airshow Convention (EAC) which brings together everyone involved in airshow scene. The main objective is to exchange ideas and promote safety and professionalism. The 2012 edition of the Convention took place in the Husa President hotel in Brussels from February 23-25th. The attendance was once again a big success with around 40 newcomers to last-years edition. The EAC board members put on an excellent program of interesting lectures and stories.
> 18-02-2012: The Flying Bulls Photo report
One of the most impressive warbird collections in the world must be the Flying Bulls. Based in the famous hangar 7 and 8 at Salzburg airport, Austria, they fly some of the greatest aircraft in aviation history. The globally admired and unique collection includes rarities such as the Lockheed P-38 Lightning, a North American B-25J Mitchell, a Chance Vought F4U-4 "Corsair" and a DC-6. During the past years we have had the honour to be able to perform multiple photoshoots of some of their awesome fleet of aircraft and helicopters. > 04-02-2012: Newcastle Jet Provost Photo report
The Newcastle Jet Provost group is well known in the UK for flying their gorgeous Jet Provost at various airshows around the country. One of the airshows visited by the Jet Provost was the Abingdon Air Fair, where we had the opportunity to photograph display pilot Neil Mc Carthy, flying the classic jet trainer behind the Skyvan photoship. The weather was perfect and Neil flew the jet nice and gently showing off the different sides of the aircraft. This resulted in some very nice variety of photographs as can be seen in this report.
> 15-01-2012: PrivatAir Boeing-737 Photo report
PrivatAir is a leading international business aviation group, with headquarters in Geneva Switzerland. The company provides access to a broad spectrum of aircraft, both through their own fleet of business jets in management and via a network of preferred partners. They operate jets ranging from Falcon 2000 till the large Boeing 757. In August 2011we had the privilege to have one of PrivatAir biggest aircraft behind the Skyvan photoplatform, the Boeing B 737-700. Check out the photoreport to see the results of this extraordenary photofligth.

> 11-01-2012: Jersey Air Display 2010 Photo report
One of Europe’s most beautiful aishow scenery must be the show at the British Channel Island Jersey. Every year Mike Higgins and his team attract a nice collection of aircraft to the Island which is located between France and the UK. The 2010 edition was no exception with some very rare birds like the Sikorsky S-38 and the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight participating with the Sk.60 and the Saab J-29 Tunnan. Check out the airshow report which contains some of the most beautifull and unique Air-to-Air shots we ever made enjoy!

> 31-12-2011: Sanicole Airshow 2010 Photo report
The 34th edition of the International Sanicole Airshow saw a new item in the European airshow scene. For the first time a spectacular sunset display was performed on Friday evening before the big airshow on Sunday. This was again a great opportunity to take some unique photographs of the great variety of aircraft who participated the show. During the preparations to the show, we were able to take to the skies in order to illustrate the photobook which was made especially for this show.

> 25-12-2011: NATO Tigermeet 2010 Photo report
The NATO Tiger association has a very rich history in organising the famous Tigermeet which is a gathering of Squadrons which share the Tiger spirit. The 2010 edition was hosted by the 313 Sqn of the Royal Netherlands Air Force and more then 50 aircraft appeared at Volkel Air Base. The large scale, two week, exercise was attended by 18 Squadron from all over the world with many aircraft sporting special tiger markings. We had the great privilege to be able to participate this large-scale exercise with the Skyvan and make some of the most unique Air-to-Air images.
> 12-10-2011: Aviation Photography! Book review
During the Photoflying Days 2011, held at the airfield of Malle, the new book "Aviation Photography!" was released by the Aviation PhotoCrew. It took countless hours of writing texts, selecting photographs and designing which resulted in a 250 page, hard-cover book on aviation photography. In the review you can read about the ideas behind the book, the themes and the many photoflights which were made to illustrate this glossy book.
> 29-08-2011: Air2Air-Academy / PhotoFlying Days 2011 first impressions
From August 18-21 the airfield of Malle, Belgium was again the main base of the Aviation PhotoCrew. For the second time, the Air2Air-Academy took place, where photographers from all over the world joined the PhotoCrew in making stunning Air-to-Air photographs. A large collection of aircraft came to the PhotoFlying Days 2011 to have their pictures taken. For the first time, photographers could make a special Warbird photoflight which included some very rare birds behind the Skyvan. The report is a first photo impression by the PhotoCrew, and will later be updated with a selection of pictures made by the Academy photographers.
> 28-03-2011: Göteborg Aero Show 2010 Photo report
In 2010 Sweden celebrated the 100th anniversary of aviation. For this occasion the Göteborg Aeroseum organised a unique airshow, representing the rich history of Swedish Aviation. One of the highlights of the show was the performance by the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight that flies a large variety of Saab jet aircraft. Next to the many Swedish participants, international demonstration teams like Frecce Tricolori and the Swiss PC-7 team filled the skies above Göteborg-Säve Airport.
